ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) will announce on March 1 its opinion on the presidential reference seeking its views about holding the upcoming Senate elections through the open ballot.
A five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Justice Yahya Afridi will announce its reserved opinion on March 1 in the open court.
The court the other day had reserved its opinion after all the counsel had concluded their arguments and after rebuttal of Attorney General Khalid Javed.

MIRPUR: Authorities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Mirpur district on Saturday announced a month-long phased coronavirus lockdown which goes into effect tomorrow (Monday) in a bid to slow down rising infections.
Mirpur has seen 160 of the 297 total Covid-related fatalities, and saw one more person falling victim to the disease and another 46 cases in the 24 hours leading to Saturday, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data showed. A notification issued by District Magistrate Bader Muneer, said there will be a complete ban on the movement and entry of all transport to and from Mirpur district. The entry of tourists into Mirpur will also be prohibited, and all resorts and parks will be completely closed during entire lockdown period.

Police are warning of a motorcycle run involving members of the Hells Angels Nomads Gang to be held in the North Shore and Rodney areas of Auckland tomorrow.
Simon Walker, Waitematā Police, said previous events of this nature have caused concern for members of the community due to unsafe driving behaviour by those involved. Police will be actively monitoring this event to ensure that it is conducted in a safe manner and will be gathering evidence of any breaches of traffic regulations or unsafe behaviour exhibited by participants.
